Networking Justice: The Local and Global in Transition
May

May 05, 2010 10:00 AM
The Transitional Justice Network is hosting a one-day workshop designed to promote interdisciplinary exchange and facilitate greater networking and collaboration on related research topics across three universities in Western Canada: SFU, UVic, and UBC. The workshop will be devoted to understanding indigenous, institutional, and creative approaches to transitional justice.

Keynote speakers Paulette Regan (Euro-Canadian) and Brenda Ireland (Anishnaabe-Métis) are uniquely placed to discuss the practical implications and theoretical issues of transitional justice in local and global contexts. Working as an intercultural team, they draw on their individual work as independent scholar/practitioners over the past 25 years to co-facilitate community-based dialogue workshops about the problematic history of Indigenous/Settler relations in Canada.
