UBC shines light on North Vancouver
Description: A new project, created by Liu Scholar Rory Tooke, is tracking the amount of sunshine and where it shines in North Vancouver. It’s hoped the data will save residents money on their energy bills by providing information for people looking to invest in solar panels. “I am interested in giving the citizens just more information on the options that they have for generating energy,” said forestry PhD student, Rory Tooke. The program shows where on their roof people should install their solar panels and how much they will save on their hydro bills. Tooke’s idea is spreading. He’s applying the same technology to the city of Munich.
