Genevieve Le Baron has been awarded a SSHRC-funded postdoctoral research fellowship. She will be working on the global acceleration of the worst forms of labor exploitation encompassed in the term unfree labor and the dynamics of global production.

Erin Jessee has been awarded a Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship. Erin works primarily in Rwanda and Bosnia-Hercegovina, using qualitative methods to elicit a nuanced “view from below” of history, memory, politics, and rural life in the aftermath of genocide and related mass atrocities.

Liu Scholars Deborah Farias and Kieran Findlater were awarded doctoral research awards from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC). Deb will be conducting field research on technical cooperation as a foreign policy tool in Brazil. Kieran will be working on energy access and water resource management in rural South Africa.

Taylor Owen, Banting Postdoctoral Fellow, has won a $200K-SSHRC partnership grant on International Relations in a Digital World, a series of projects and case studies.

Finally, the Liu Institute has been awarded a Canada Research Chair Tier I in Food Security.
