Three Liu Scholars recently awarded competitive Africa Initiative Graduate Research Grant
Description: Congratulations to Charles Roger, Kieran Findlater, and Chris Tenove, who were recently awarded three of 10 Africa Initiative Graduate Research Grants (for Canada-based Students).
Date: 24 April 2012
The research grants are part of the Africa Initiative Exchange Program, which supports short-term academic placements for Africans and Canadians undertaking research on Africa. The program is building capacity by giving bright, highly-motivated students and scholars an opportunity to discover and impart new learning in a cross-cultural experience. Supported research covers five thematic areas – conflict resolution, energy, food security, health, and migration, with special attention to the cross-cutting issue of climate change.

The student's research projects are:

  • Africa in the global climate change negotiations, 1992-2012 - Charles Roger
  • Emerging farmers using renewable energy for agricultural productivity in South Africa - Kieran Findlater
  • Impact of the ICC on community justice-seeking and reconciliation in Kenya and Uganda - Chris Tenove
