Congratulations to Erin Baines, Associate Professor at the Liu Institute for Global Issues, who has been awarded the prestigious UBC Killam Research Fellowship that is granted to “promising faculty” for full time research during sabbatical. Erin Baines is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Political Science and a faculty associate at the Institute for Gender, Race and Social Justice. 

Her research interests include transitional justice; the politics of humanitarianism and forced displacement; and, the study of gender and armed conflict, with a regional focus on northern Uganda.  Her publications include Vulnerable Bodies: Gender, the UN and the Global Refugee Crisis (Ashgate 2004), and a forthcoming life history of a woman who spent eleven years inside the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), I Am Evelyn Amony: Life in and After the LRA(University of Wisconsin).
