The world is in the midst of major and rapid transformation. Alongside urgent threats to sustainability, massive shifts in technology and growing systemic risk, we are witnessing the dramatic rise of emerging economies and a global rebalancing of power. Succeeding in this complex environment demands a broad foundation of essential policy skills, and the knowledge and tools to navigate global policy challenges.


The University of British Columbia’s Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs (MPPGA) program is a professional global public policy program that provides policy makers and future leaders with:


Multidisciplinary policy analysis and design skills


Subject-specific expertise in

development, sustainability and global governance


Candidates graduate ready to drive policy change in industry, government or non-profits anywhere in the world.

What: Two-year, full-time professional global public policy program

The Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs program is the first general professional degree in global public policy offered by UBC. The program was jointly developed on behalf of two faculties (Arts and Science) and three institutes, Institute of Asian Research (IAR), Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability (IRES), and Liu Institute for Global Issues (Liu).
